In my new book, Cracked Mirror, Clear Reflection: Shatter an Illusion of Perfection, I share my journey from fear and doubt to discovering my confidence. In this post, I will share my experience as a new author.
My official book release date was September 6, 2019. In just four weeks, I have grown as a person. I came out of the gate with the expectation that this would be the book that would advance my writing career. While my vision for the future is still significant, the process has been humbling.
The verdict is still out on the outcome of my book release. However, I have faced many moments of truth along the way. Do I have what it takes to stick it out? Do I have the budget to push my book to the next level? Does my book have what it takes to succeed?
Many of the lessons that I learned as a child have been a part of the book release process. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. It is better to give than it is to receive. Think of others before you think of yourself. Always believe in yourself and do your best at everything you do.
Giving has been the name of the game with my book launch. I can’t believe how much giving I have had to do. Better yet, I have given with no control over the outcome or expectation that I will receive anything in return. Although I mentally fought this reality at the beginning, I realized that I had to embrace the process and enjoy the journey.
We are all on this writing and reading journey together. Every one of us has a unique purpose and mission. There is a why behind why we started, and we must never lose sight of what prompted us to write or pick up our next favorite book.
