Attitude of Gratitude

Attitude is everything. Mindset if key. I bet you hear this frequently. You may even grasp the concept. It’s natural to be thankful when all is going well. But how do you maintain a grateful heart, even in the midst of trying times?

We go through seasons when life is good. Circumstances seem to align perfectly. The future feels brighter than ever, and everything falls into place.

It’s lovely to imagine a perfect world. It would be wonderful if every day were a sunny day. But it’s more likely that you’ll face some hard times along the way. Life happens. Trials come. Whatever the case, an attitude of gratitude keeps you on track.

Positivity isn’t something you catch. It’s a choice. Being thankful with a negative mindset is hard. In the same way, a positive mindset makes you more aware of the blessings in your life. The natural result is a cheerful heart.

Be prepared ahead of time. Don’t wait for the storm to come. Instead, make thankfulness a part of your daily life. Here are some things that I do to keep myself moving in the right direction. Perhaps they’ll help you to stay on track as well.

1. Choose positivity over negativity: What you put into your mind comes out of your heart. Who you surround yourself with and the activities that you participate in significantly affect your mindset. Be intentional with how you spend your time and who you let into your close circle.

2. Choose your thoughts wisely: What you think you become. If you allow your mind to gravitate towards negative thoughts, you’ll be less equipped to deal with adversity. Don’t dwell on what can go wrong. Focus on all that can go right.

3. Choose your words wisely: What you speak into your life becomes your reality. The more you talk about problems, the bigger they become. The more you talk about blessings, the more thankful you’ll be.

Many circumstances in life are beyond your control. But you have control over how you respond to them. Mindset is key. What you think about yourself becomes your reality. Believe that you can and you will. Walk through life with an attitude of gratitude. And turn what seems impossible into a possibility.

  2. Hmmm choosing to be optimistic isn’t always the answer. I don’t mean to dampen anything, but sometimes, negativity must be confronted. I must say though that I love your book’s title!
